For a Eco-Santiago

This particular issue I thinks its deserve the most of our attention. First, because our quality life depends of that and second, because I don’t see that so many people here in Chile (and I’m included) are doing something about. Well, It’s true that they teach us some environmentally friendly practices in primary or high school (Even in college too). But that’s insufficient. I admite that I haven’t incorporated that recycling habit, because even if I recycle my home garbage, the guys of the city’s cleaning service (which are a private service, by the way) put all the garbage together in the truck and throw it again in the dump, without recycling before. I don’t know if the dumps are municipal, but I think that It’s like every chilean institution, private. And like private company they don’t think so much on recycling. And that has to change soon!

I certainly would like to have some of those good habits to help the world as use a bike, but I’m not from Santiago, and my bicycle is in my another house. But I don’t use a car either. I use the bus, but the Transantiago’s buses aren’t very ecological too! Well, I haven’t joined any Eco-organisations yet, because desinformation I guess. But I try myself to reduce energy consumption in my home and wherever I go. Also I join with my family to “Earth Hour” since two years ago. I would like to do so many things, but the main thing for me is to make energy-independent my home, using solar and wind energy.

Well, finally I don’t do many things to reduce my carbon footprint, but I’ll start searching and getting more information about this issue to make any change in my lifestyle a little bit. I think everybody see how damage we’re doing to our city. We’re missing a clean air, clean rivers, clean soil and all the farming products from it. Let’s do something!

  1. I think you're being very negative. There are ways to recycle, you just have to look
    for it.

  4. You have the energy, the spirit. You just need to do something with them. Join an eco'organization. Or recycle in your home and go to a recycle point where the trash guys can't access and mix all together.
